Grateful no.4

Today I am very grateful to the men and women who have given their lives for us to live in a safer world.

My grandad went out to France shortly after D-Day and was killed in August 1944. His brother died in Italy the following year. The picture above is him with my nan and my mum as a little girl. She was four and a half years old when he died.

He is buried in France and we have been to see the lovely little well kept cemetery where he lies.

Grateful 2 & 3

My family

No 2. I am always grateful to have such wonderful family and friends. I am lucky to be blessed with friends that although we do not meet up often when we do it is always as if we met the week before. My family and extended family mean a great deal to me. My bloggy friends have also become very important as they have MADE me look around myself, enjoy what I do and explore my creative side.

No.3 I am grateful I have a job I really enjoy.

Class Four's knitting projects.

Today I have been making up my PIF parcels ready to post next week. Simone and Colette will get theirs soon and I am hopefully meeting Diane on the 29th so I can take hers with me. I have also got my Christmas Stocking Swap ready so that will also be going off soon. Dolly I need you to email me your address please!

I have also done a little sewing and making and hope to do more tomorrow. The reason I seem to have all this lovely time to myself is Hubby is studying for his APC to become chartered so has his nose in a book most of the weekend so I don't feel guilty I am playing with my fabric and yarns!

I even managed to do some at the garage while I was waiting to pick up the car.

Things I am grateful for...

Sweet Myrtle is grateful this November and I have decided to join her in listing some things I am grateful for. During this damp, dark November it will do me good to look at some things that make me smile and feel grateful for.
so....

... I am grateful because I live in the most beautiful country.

What are you grateful for?

13

This time 13 years ago Hubby and I got hitched! It was I have to say, the most wonderful day and will be one of the best days of my life forever.

Surrounded by family and friends we married in church and had the reception at a 17th century hall. I wore a big dress (as you can see by the photo above, with the autumn leaves blowing around) and we had fireworks in the evening.
Magical.

To celebrate Hubby took me for a meal at a local restaurant on Friday evening and we left the car there and walked home to try and walk off some of the 'stuffed' feeling. On Saturday morning I went to pick the car up and thought you might like to have a look around the village.
We enter the village of Millbank.

The restaurant 'The Millbank' where we had our meal.

Go down the steep cobbled lanes.

The Millbank garden.

The veiw.

The roads were thick with fallen leaves.

Past the geese and hairy cows.

And home again.

November

Well November has arrived. It has been dark all day. The rain came down sideways all morning and the trees across the valley were swirling around.

I do not think there will be many leaves left on the trees by the end of the day.

I had another day at my sewing machine and made this....
...a bag made with the fabric supplied with Cath Kidston's book, SEW!

It was quite easy to make and had me thinking I could make some out of different fabric but I am a frustrated person when it comes to sewing, it makes me mad and I get annoyed with it when it doesn't go right so I don't think I will push my luck!
Someone sent me this photo on an email-now this cat has got the patience of a saint!

Well, back to my sewing till it gets too dark.

Back to school tomorrow, "sigh!"

Happy Halloween?

Living where we do we don't get many trick or treaters, I did have some treats on stand by but as it's nearly 9pm I guess I will just have to eat them myself!

I have had a fantastic few days.

Sunrise on Thursday morning

I managed to spend two whole days crafting and got together my PIF's so they are almost ready to send off!

as you can see there seems to be a lot of Christmas looking things going on.....

....I can't show you to much, it will spoil the surprise!

Lucy came to check out what I was doing.

Sunrise on Friday morning

I also popped over to see my mum and we went to her allotment and I brought home lots of lovely kale and a cabbage!

Remember this post? well I had a phone call out of the blue and was asked if I could call in the Parish Council office to pick up this.....

A KS day in Preston

Yesterday I spent the day in Preston with my KS, Shan. There was a packed itinerary so almost as soon as I was at her house we were out of the door.

Coats on, handmade poppies ready?
check.
Shan had needle felted her own and mine was made by Colette at Poppy Cottage. (money will still be put into the British Legion collecting tins.)

Right into town and hit the shops. Such excellent bargains to be had. we go to the market where one of Shan's favourite stalls is having a closing down sale. The bargains there!
Feeling hungry?
check.

We went to Oliver's. An Italian cafe bar with excellent food and bargain prices. More bargains!

Then through the car boot/flea market and onto Aberkan's.

If you are into fabrics and crafting it's a great place to explore. Shan had to buy some things for her sewing projects and well I had to buy more yarn for my Christmas throw plus a 'few' other bits and pieces!

Then back to Shan's for a coffee and a tutorial on jewellery making! yes Shan gave me a lesson on making a bracelet using seed beads and buttons and wire. She's a good teacher look-

Maybe I could make some for my blogshop?

I took a photo of my goodies I bought this morning.

Want to see?

Think there is a bit of a Christmas Theme going on here?

check!
